Happy Pickle Day



So this is my second year of canning.  I am kind of self taught from you-tube and other instruction videos and books.  Today I made a larger batch than I had attempted last year. I made 24 jars of dill pickles.  Tomorrow I may be doing Dilly Beans.  My tomatoes are later this year than last year so I haven't been getting an over abundance of ripe tomatoes.  Any one else putting up food this year?

  1. Yup, putting up lots of good stuff out here in NJ! Peaches, bread and butter pickles, strawberry jam, tomato sauce...and freezing things too! Lots of preserving happening around here.

    1. Mary you have impressed me in the past with your canning I think you also do some pressure canning too at your house. I haven't had the nerve to try it I stick with my hot water bath for now.

  2. I love HOMEADE pickles & beans!!! My Aunt used to always make homeade dill pickles when I was little and they were my favorite pickles ever.

    1. I just finished my beans two days ago. I didn't make much though I decided that was ok for my first time in case nobody wants to eat them.
